The holiday season is typically a time for families to gather around the dinner table, break bread, share stories and enjoy one another’s company. Unfortunately, not every individual or family is able to partake in the joy of the season due to hard economic times. At Westminster, we strive to help families in need enjoy the holidays like everyone else and forget — at least temporarily — about their tough situations.
WNS has traditionally sponsored a Christmas Baskets program for families in the Westminster community. The program provides two weeks worth of groceries, clothing (including hats, gloves, socks and underwear), two gifts per child and stocking stuffers. Families can have their gifts wrapped before heading home with their Christmas Basket. In 2014 there were 246 volunteers who provided food, clothing and gifts to 225 families through WNS’ Christmas Baskets program.
WNS has volunteer opportunities for serving Christmas Basket clients. To volunteer during this time, please contact Lauren Rollings, Westminster’s office manager, at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 317.632.9785.
